Fair Housing Champion 2026Do you know an NCJAR member who is advancing fair housing, reducing barriers to homeownership or creating meaningful change in underserved communities?

The National Association of REALTORS® is now accepting nominations for its 2027 Fair Housing Champion Award. This national honor recognizes REALTORS® whose leadership, advocacy, education or community work advances fair housing and expands housing opportunities for all.

NCJAR’s Own Fair Housing Champion

In 2025, NCJAR member and past president William “Bill” Flagg was named an NAR Fair Housing Champion and celebrated nationally throughout the year.

Bill’s leadership helped make fair housing and inclusion a lasting part of NCJAR’s work. His efforts supported fair housing education, stronger community partnerships, multicultural leadership development and programs connecting underserved families with homeownership resources.

His recognition demonstrated that local leadership can have a national impact. Read Bill Flagg’s story and learn more about his work.

Someone you know could be the next Fair Housing Champion.

Who Should Be Nominated?

Consider nominating a REALTOR® who has made a significant contribution by:

  1. Expanding homeownership opportunities in underserved communities
  2. Educating REALTORS®, consumers or community members about fair housing
  3. Developing programs that reduce discrimination and bias
  4. Building a fair housing culture within a brokerage or organization
  5. Supporting housing counseling or mobility programs
  6. Serving as a fair housing advocate, instructor or volunteer
  7. Creating innovative partnerships that improve access to housing

Nominees must be NAR members, legal U.S. residents and at least 18 years old. REALTORS® may nominate themselves, or another person may submit a nomination on their behalf.

Three recipients will be selected. Each winner will direct a $7,500 contribution to an eligible housing-related nonprofit organization of their choice.

Submit a Nomination

Nominations must be submitted by August 29, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

Review the award criteria and submit a nomination

Think about the people in your office, association and community who are doing the work—often without seeking recognition. A nomination is an opportunity to celebrate their impact and share an example that can inspire REALTORS® across the country.
